Most of these apps are short, pretty short, and don’t have much to offer in the way of features or customization. But some of the new apps are actually pretty impressive. My Favorite Feature: “Day” view “Day” view lets you see how sleep affects your mood and energy levels throughout the day.

Dash is a free app for both iPhone and Android users. It makes it easy to track your calories, water intake, step count, weight, and active minutes.
It also gives you the ability to create your own custom workouts and track your progress towards your goals. While the interface is pretty basic, you can easily customize it to fit your needs.
- Endomondo:
Endomondo is a leading mobile fitness tracker. The app connects to the Endomondo website so that your data can be sent to their servers. This allows you to connect with friends on the platform and compare workout performance with other users. The app itself has two main features: “Ride” and “Run”. Ride tracks your cycling, hiking, and running activities. Run records your activity in the form of a map.
- RunKeeper:
RunKeeper is a feature-rich running app. It connects to your GPS to track your routes, pace, distance, and calories burned. There are also leaderboards to compare your performance with others. The free app also comes with a few pro features that cost $2.99/month. These include live tracking, automatic uploads, and the ability to analyze routes on a map.
- My Fitness Pal:
MyFitnessPal is a simple calorie counter and food diary app. The free version of the app has ads, but you can pay $3.99 to remove them. MyFitnessPal has a decent food database, so you can easily find what you’re eating. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t have any fitness tracking features.
- Fitocracy:
(iPhone, Android) Fitocracy makes fitness fun (sort of). It turns the mundane task of exercising into an RPG game.
There are quests, adventures, and even pets. Once you get bored of the main quests, you can create your own. The app also lets you create groups where you can post your progress. Viewing other people’s progress is highly motivational.

Strava is a GPS-based running app, that lets you track your distance and pace. It also includes maps to track your route. You can compete against other Strava users, and you can also see other people’s fitness data. There’s also a Strava Global Heatmap. The app is free, but you can buy more features. The app is available for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.
- Bodybuilder:
Bodybuilder is a health and wellness app. You can easily find recipes to help you lose weight, control your insulin, and improve your diet. There are also several training programs, plus a community of over 180,000 women on the Bodybuilder Forum. The app is free for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. The Android version is the only one that lets you access your recipes from your device.
- Sweat:
Sweat – Track your activity, sleep, and food on an interactive dashboard. You can also connect with friends to keep each other motivated. There are over 40 million registered users on the platform. The free version of the app is ad-supported. Premium features are $3.99 per month. The app is available for Android and iOS.
- Couch to 5K:
Couch to 5k – Couch to 5k helps you get ready for your first 5k. First, you set a goal. Then, the app will track your steps, distance, calories burned, and more. You can also share your progress with friends on Facebook. The app includes a social media feed so you can follow along. Couch to 5k is available as a web app, as well as mobile apps for Android & iOS. The Android app was rated 2.6/5 in the Google Play Store.
- Peloton Ride:
Peloton is a connected exercise bike. You can sync your Peloton account with the app, and you’ll get real-time fitness data. You can also check your history of workouts, and set goals. Summing up my findings from the Google Play Store, 90% of fitness apps for women are free to download. However, fewer than half (2.86%) of fitness apps for women are completely free. That’s why I included the “Paid” or “Free with In-App Purchases” categories in my data analysis. The other interesting finding from this analysis was that 3.38% of fitness apps for women charge a monthly fee.
Which fitness apps actually work?
In addition to testing out the top fitness apps for women on the Google Play Store, I downloaded about 20 fitness apps from the App Store onto my iPad. Again, I rated each app based on how it looked and felt. I then summarized my findings in the above blog post.
Which is the best app for body fitness?
In contrast to Google Play Store findings, 100% of the fitness apps I tested in the App Store were dedicated body fat trackers. No workout apps or strength training programs were found in the App Store. Only one fitness app (Lose It!) had a UI that wasn’t conducive to tracking body fat. Otherwise, the apps looked and felt similar to each other.

On the other hand, only some of the free fitness apps for women in the Google Play Store actually worked. free fitness apps worked properly. This may simply be due to the fact that paid fitness apps have a dedicated support team that can help with any issues that may arise. How did you first hear about that app? According to my data, the majority of people find fitness apps through word of mouth, online reviews, or browsing the App Store.

It has over 100 exercises in 5 different categories: Cardio, Strength, Yoga, Stretch, and Core. How many people use 7 Minute Workout? Over 500k people use 7 Minute Workout each month. What are the best free weight loss apps? Losing Weight on Your Phone is a free app that helps you track your food intake and exercise. What are the best free diet apps? MyFitnessPal is a free food tracker app that estimates calorie burn based on how you’re moving.
