First, let me tell you a few things about myself: My name is Eric Thomas and I have been using space technology for more than 15 years. I started using the GPS device back in the days when people hardly ever used them on their car.
Nowadays, everyone is using it and it has become an important part of our daily lives. I also use it when I go to a new place to find my way around.
GPS devices are useful but they have limitations. They only give you the road directions and it is up to you to figure out which road to take.
So, I was thinking: “What if there was a space technology that could help me get the directions and then also tell me which road to take?” And then I came up with an idea: “What if there was a space technology that could help me find the best route from Point A to Point B?”
Well, guess what?
There is such a thing! It is called Google Maps and it is the most widely used mapping software in the world. Google has over 60% market share of all the mapping software in the world. Here are some facts about Google Maps:
Google Maps has more than 1.3 billion users. That means almost every human being on this planet has used Google Maps at one point or another.
More people use Google Maps on their smartphones than any other app. More people use Google Maps on their phones than use the Bible. (Yes, it’s true. Read the stats.)
Google Maps is now available in 190 countries. But still, only 5% of its users are from outside the United States. Most of the users are from the United States, Europe, and Japan.
Google Maps has become so good that even people who have never driven in an unfamiliar city can find their way around it with no problem. That is why 90% of the businesses use it to provide their customers with directions.
The other 10% use it for research purposes. So, let me tell you how this amazing space technology that helps you to get the best route can also be used by business owners to make their lives easier. I am going to explain it in just 4 simple steps:
You create a route:
Let’s say you are running an errand in a new city. You don’t know the city very well and you want to find the best route from your current location (where you know the street layout very well) to the place where you need to go (the place where you don’t know the street layout very well).
This is what you do: You create a route from your current location to wherever you need to go. For example, maybe your route is to go to the office, park your car in the garage, take the elevator up to the 8th floor, walk down the corridor, open the door to your office, take the desk chair, push it in front of your desk, sit down and start working.
When you do this, Google Maps will show you the best route to your destination. It will show you the roads you should take and the order in which you should take them.
And if you are using the desktop version of Google Maps, it will even calculate the amount of time you will need to spend on each road and tell you the estimated time for you to get to your destination.
I have created hundreds of routes and my estimated times vary from 10 minutes to 3 hours and 20 minutes. They are very accurate and they never fail me.
Let me tell you something: If you are using the GPS device in your smartphone, then your route will not be as good as the one I just described because your phone will only give exact idea.
